For this week's giveaway, we've teamed up with Throwboy to offer MacRumors readers a chance to win one of the company's Apple-themed Throw Blankets. Introduced earlier this year, the blankets are modeled after classic Apple icons, machines, and operating systems.
The 1984 Throw Blanket, for example, is modeled after the first Macintosh that Apple released in 1984. It's made from a beige fabric that matches the color of the original Macintosh, plus it has a black screen, a disk drive, and a rainbow logo.

MacBook Air
The MacBook Air is Apple's most affordable notebook, offering a solid compromise between cost, performance, and size. In November 2020, the MacBook Air became the first Mac to transition entirely to Apple Silicon chips from Intel processors.
The new MacBook Air comes with Apple's new M1 chip that includes an 8-core CPU, a 7- or 8-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. It comes with 8GB of unified memory standard (configurable up to 16GB), and can be configured with up to 2TB of SSD storage. To read more on the MacBook Air, check out our MacBook Air roundup.

MacBook Pro
The MacBook Pro is the most powerful notebook Apple sells, although the lineup is a bit confusing right now. In October 2021, Apple launched the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. Both chips feature a 10-core CPU with eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores, and there is a lower-end 8-core model available for the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro. Pricing on the 14-inch starts at $1,999 and the 16-inch starts at $2,499.
The 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro are middle-tier and high-end options that are being sold alongside the more affordable 13-inch MacBook Pro, which is equipped with an M1 chip. Priced starting at $1,299, the M1 MacBook Pro features a standard 13-inch display and a lower power M1 chip, plus it uses the old MacBook Pro design.

iMac
Apple's iMac is an ultra-thin all-in-one desktop computer that was refreshed with a new design, M1 chips, and new color options in April 2021. The radically redesigned iMac comes in a range of fun colors and features a 24-inch 4.5K display and an Apple-designed "M1" Arm-based chip to bring significant speed and efficiency improvements.
In addition to the new 24-inch model, Apple also sells a larger 27-inch model with 5K display that has yet to see a redesign and remains based on Intel processors. There is also an entry-level 21.5-inch model based on Intel's older 8th-generation Coffee Lake chips and includes only a 1920 x 1080 display. For more information about the iMac, make sure to check out our iMac roundup.
The new 24-inch model became available in May 2021 following pre-orders in late April. The 27-inch iMac was updated in August 2020, while the 21.5-inch iMac hasn't seen a significant update since March 2019.

Mac mini
The Mac mini is Apple's most affordable and compact desktop computer, positioned as a "bring your own" machine that comes without a mouse, keyboard, or display. Similar to the 13-inch MacBook Pro, Apple in November introduced new Mac mini models based on an Apple M1 chip while continuing to sell more expensive models equipped with Intel processors.
The Mac mini features a square design with a 1.4-inch thin 7.7-inch wide aluminum unibody enclosure, and the M1 models come in Silver while the Intel models come in Space Gray. Pricing starts at $699 for the M1 models and $1,099 for the Intel models, and for more information about the Mac mini, make sure to check out our Mac mini roundup.

Mac Pro
The Mac Pro is Apple's desktop machine for professionals. An all-new Mac Pro was announced in June 2019, and it launched in December 2019.
The new Mac Pro is a high-end high-throughput machine designed for Apple's pro user base. Apple learned from its mistakes and the thermal limitations of the design of the 2013 Mac Pro, and the new Mac Pro features a design that's similar to the rectangular 2012 Mac Pro, focusing heavily on upgradeability and expansion. For more information about the Mac Pro, make sure to check out our Mac Pro roundup.
The Mac Pro starts at $5,999 with prices rapidly escalating from there depending on upgrades, and there are a wide array of them, so make to check your retailers of choice to see pricing on custom configurations.

Apple TV
The Apple TV is Apple's set-top box, designed to bring the Apple ecosystem to the television. The fifth-generation Apple TV, the Apple TV 4K, was originally released in October of 2017 and was updated in April 2021 with an A12 Bionic chip, high frame rate HDR support, and a redesigned Siri Remote. The Apple TV 4K comes with 32 or 64GB of storage. To read more about the Apple TV, make sure to check out our Apple TV roundup.
Apple also sells an earlier fourth-generation Apple TV HD for $149 with all of the same features but no support for 4K or HDR. It was repackaged with the redesigned Siri Remote in April 2021.

iPad Pro
Apple's iPad Pro lineup features two tablets, one with a 12.9-inch screen size and one with an 11-inch screen size, both of which were updated in April 2021 for a launch in May.
Apple's iPad Pro models feature edge-to-edge Retina displays with ProMotion 120Hz technology, True Tone support, and Wide Color for vivid, true-to-life colors, with the 12.9-inch model using a mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display for improved brightness and contrast. The iPad Pro models have no Home button and instead use Face ID, enabled through a TrueDepth camera system.
The same M1 chips found in Apple's latest Macs have made their way to the iPad Pro, and they come equipped with 12-megapixel Wide and 10-megapixel Ultra Wide rear cameras and a LiDAR scanner for capturing ultra-accurate depth information for augmented reality experiences. The two iPad Pros support the Apple Pencil 2, a thin-tipped pressure-sensitive stylus that can be used for drawing, sketching, and writing, and they work with an optional Smart Keyboard Folio accessory and an upcoming Magic Keyboard folio-type accessory that includes a trackpad. For more information about the iPad Pro, make sure to check out our iPad Pro roundup.
Deal hunters may also want to look to the 2020 iPad Pro models, which may be available at steeper discounts now that updated models have been introduced. The 2020 models include many of the same features, but are powered by a previous-generation A12Z Bionic chip and both sizes feature a standard LCD that still offers ProMotion, True Tone, and Wide Color support.

iPad Air
Apple introduced a completely redesigned iPad Air in mid-September 2020, and it became available for pre-order on October 16 ahead of an October 23 launch, but we'll also be tracking deals on the 2019 model for the time being.
The new fourth-generation iPad Air is Apple's mid-tier tablet with a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display and an A14 Bionic chip. It's less expensive than the iPad Pro but offers many of the same features, while it's substantially more expensive than the $329 entry-level iPad.
It features a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 7-megapixel front-facing camera, and a thin and light body that's 6.1mm thick and weighs just a pound. It's also Apple's first product with Touch ID built into the power button on the edge of the device, forgoing a Touch ID Home button and the more sophisticated Face ID. It works with the second-generation Apple Pencil and supports the Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard Folio. For more info on the iPad Air, make sure to check out our iPad Air roundup.
Some retailers are continuing to sell the previous-generation iPad Air, although Apple has discontinued it, so availability may be sporadic and will decline over time. Introduced in March 2019, the third-generation iPad Air offers an A12 Bionic chip, Touch ID Home button, headphone jack, and a 10.5-inch display with wide color and True Tone.

iPad Mini 6
At 8.3 inches, the iPad mini 6 is Apple's smallest tablet. The new iPad mini sports the same full-screen design as the iPad Pro and iPad Air, with no Home button and Touch ID support in the Power Button. It features a new Ultra Wide front camera with a 12-megapixel sensor, and a back camera with a 12-megapixel sensor.
It includes the A15 Bionic chip, making it up to 40 percent faster in CPU performance compared to the previous generation, and supports the Apple Pencil. One of the biggest new features is the addition of a USB-C port, making the iPad mini compatible with USB-C accessories for the first time. AirPods
Last updated in October 2021, the AirPods are Apple's totally wire-free earbuds that are meant to compensate for the lack of a headphone jack on modern iPhones. Available for $179, the new AirPods 3 feature a compact stem, redesigned contoured fit, Adaptive EQ, sweat resistance, spatial audio support, and more. AirPods work like magic, starting and stopping when placed into or removed from the ears, and switching between Apple devices with ease.
In addition to the new AirPods 3, Apple will continue selling the AirPods 2 with Wired Charging Case for $129. However, the company has stopped selling the AirPods 2 with Wireless Charging Case, in favor of the AirPods 3.
In October 2019, Apple introduced AirPods Pro for $249, with a sealing in-ear design to support noise cancelation technology and improved sound. AirPods Pro have shorter stems than the regular AirPods, and squeezing and holding the stem activates various noise cancelation modes. One, two, or three quick squeezes of the stem controls audio playback with play/pause and track skipping.
Lastly, in late 2020 Apple debuted the AirPods Max for $549. As the most expensive pair of AirPods, the AirPods Max feature an over-ear design with active noise cancellation, spatial audio, and adaptive EQ. The AirPods Max come in five colors: Sky Blue, Green, Pink, Space Gray, and Silver.
AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max can sometimes be hard to find, but several third-party retailers offer the Apple-designed earbuds. To read more on the AirPods family, make sure to check out our AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max roundups.

In November 2020, Apple launched HomePod mini, which offers a scaled-down smart speaker experience priced at just $99. The HomePod mini is based on the S5 chip from the Apple Watch Series 5 and offers 360-degree sound in a roughly spherical shape that's just 3.3 inches tall. As of October 2021, the HomePod mini now comes in five colors: White, Space Gray, Blue, Orange, and Yellow. For more details, check out our HomePod mini roundup.

MagSafe and AirTag
iPhone accessories are popular gifts, and Apple currently offers a trio of magnetic charging options for the iPhone 12 and 13 lineups under its MagSafe branding. The standard MagSafe Charger is a wireless charging pad with an integrated USB-C cable that uses magnets to optimally align the charger with the iPhone, while the MagSafe Duo is a combination MagSafe phone charger and an Apple Watch charger that folds up easy storage and travel. The MagSafe Battery Pack offers some extra charge for your iPhone while on the go.
AirTag is another iPhone-related accessory introduced in April 2021. AirTags, available in one-packs and four-packs, are small trackers that can be inserted into or attached to easily misplaced items like keys and bags and then tracked using the Find My app on an iOS device or Mac.
