The Forecast, a uniquely simple Windows Phone weather app

The Forecast

The Forecast is a blank bones weather app for your Windows Telephone 8 and 7.x devices. Not much flash with The Forecast just it does provide you with the basic atmospheric condition information to aid you plan you day or week.

The Forecast lays out the weather forecasts beyond three screen and has Live Tile and Lockscreen support. The app does support multiple locations or you can just permit information technology present the weather based on your electric current location.

If yous're looking for a simple weather app, The Forecast is worth because.

The Forecast's three main screens cover a 24 hour forecast (cleaved downwardly by the hour), a five twenty-four hours forecast, and the current forecast for all your locations.

The Forecast

Forecast information includes time, temperature, air current speed and a weather condition icon for the current weather (rainy, cloudy, sunny, etc.). Weather data is refreshed when the app is launched.

Up under the three-dot menu are links to add together a urban center, add the weather condition information to the lock screen, pivot the app to the Start Screen and access the settings. Each location can be pinned to the Kickoff Screen to display the current conditions. Lockscreen support displays the forecast for the next three hours for your current location. It would take been nice to see more forecast information on the Live Tile and hopefully nosotros'll run across more than added with future updates to The Forecast.

The Forecast'due south settings let you cull between Celsius/Fahrernheit, 12/24 times, and miles per hour/kilometers per hour. You can also turn on/off your Windows Phone location services.

The Forecast is a squeamish looking weather app and the condensed weather condition data will appeal to those who only want the nuts. Even so, there are two problems holding this Windows Phone weather condition app back.

The Forecast Settings, Lockscreen, Live Tiles

Get-go, in that location isn't a trial version to permit you effort things out. While The Forecast is only running $.99, it notwithstanding would exist nice to have a trial version to see if you like things. Possibly a trial limited to i city?

Second, the transition between the three screens isn't the smoothest. You accept to tap/concord the right edge of the screen so swipe to the left. Repeat the steps in reverse to return to the previous pages. I would have rather seen a more smoother swipe gesture and information technology takes a trivial time to get used to it. At beginning I thought in that location was a bug in the app preventing page changes.

I volition say that once you get used to the screen transition, The Forecast did begin to abound on me. It's a prissy, simple weather app that has a lot of potential.  Smoothen out the user interface, beef upwards the Live Tile and The Forecast would be a hard to resist basic conditions app.

You can notice The Forecast here in the Windows Phone Store. Again, there is no trial with the total version running $.99.
